Poker is the most popular card game in the world and is played by millions of people of all ages, whether is it for fun or some serious money. All poker games use a standard 52 card deck and cards are ranked from Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and Ace. Aces can be either the highest or the lowest ranking of cards. Suits in the game of poker do not have any value. The aim of poker is to have the best possible hand out of the 5 cards that are dealt. Poker is easy to learn but difficult to master. It requires a lot of skill and luck to succeed in the world of poker. However, one can learn the basics and fundamentals of poker at the comfort of your own home. There are some sites that provide tutorials on learning poker. These sites facilitate the learning of poker by making use of flash, animations and pictures. There is even a school based style of teaching poker by introducing levels you need to clear.

In recent years, poker has developed into a form of mainstream entertainment. Major television networks have been airing poker tournament action from Las Vegas casino hotels for many seasons now. DVDs of entire seasons of poker stars battling it out with their poker strategy are available. There are two main types of poker DVDs/Videos. First we have the instructional videos - players like Phil Hellmuth reveal their "secret tips on poker", and next, videos covering big live tournaments like WSOP and WPT. Big tournaments, such as WSOP or WPT on the Travel Channel, GSN, and soon Fox Sports, Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo, Poker Superstars on Fox Sports, Poker Royale on GSN, The World Series of Poker on ESPN, Ultimate Poker Challenge and Tilt are all wise choices. Alternatively, poker documentaries, and aired events with less skilled celebrities trying their best are good alternatives. All the episodes are well categorized, so viewers dont have to go looking for any video segments like on online poker video streaming websites.

Casinos around the world use poker chips in order to allow patrons to gamble more easily than they would with real currency. Poker chips are used to represent the money that is gambled with in totally free casino games, and can also be used to simply keep score in informal poker matches following the basic rules of poker. With differently valued chips, poker players can quickly and efficiently wager money, even in online casino games. The clay poker chips used in online casino gambling and real casino locations vary in colors and variations, but generally come in 3 or 5 standard poker chip colors. Three colour chip sets come in white, red and blue. Typically, values are assigned with white as the lowest value (1X), then red (5X), then blue as the highest value (10X). Five color poker chip sets add green and black poker chips to the mix, with values of 20X and 100X respectively. A 'standard' set of values for poker chips contains White poker chips of $1 value, Red chips of $5 value, Blue for $10, Green for $20, and Black poker chips representing $100 denominations.Occasionally, there may be differences in denominations across poker variations, but this list reflects the generally accepted value for each Poker chip color. During online poker tournaments, chips may not directly correspond to cash values used to purchase them, but might simply indicate a player's standing in the course of poker games online.

It is not any secret that a standard poker affair would involve from 2 to ten gamblers. To give maximum convenience to the gamblers, the oblong customized or custom poker tables are thought of to be ideal. The tables must have (quite) a soft surface, for the hard-surfaced kind is just like a lunch table. These Custom poker tables are overflowing in the market, so you need not worry. Chances are, whatever kind you have in mind, you'll find one, assuming of course, you have the patience and commitment to search. In order to meet the most exacting demands of some individuals/parties, the manufacturers would come up with these custom poker tables, and a felt cloth is no longer extraordinary. Poker equipment manufacturing entities are willing to put any specification as per the customer's whims: logo, a picture and even texts. Mind you, the custom design could even be part of the table's felt, it could even be washable if desired. Naturally, manufacturers' limits differ too, Entity A might allow this and that, while Entity B would say- 'sorry'.

Poker prop bets how they work(?)- before we go to that, let me define a prop bet. At the game, this is just a side bet by the combatants who want more play (action), and that may mean more cash. Off the table, this prop bet is a bet made on the result of any contest. The common kind would be the weight-loss wagers.
Now, let me tell you how poker prop bets how they work by mentioning some WSOP (AMUSING) poker prop adventures, here goes: # Some players, one of whom was Ivey, bet Erick Lindgren that he would not be able to play four rounds (golf) in the heat of the Vegas climate, making under one hundred every round, while bringing his clubs, Lindgren won 350K dollars. # Poker prop bets how they work: let's hear it from the Mouth. Mike won around 150 thousand dollars in side wagers when he won a HORSE competition. # Poker prop bets how they work: Phil Hellmuth Jr with Phil Ivey moved some insurance side bets in a Finals table where the former played in. Because of these wagers, Hellmuth actually was in the red even if he cashed in for five figures, amusing huh?

Let me tell you a little true story, about a guy named Hollack (American, I could not imagine how he got that name). Hollack is a gambling professional, meaning, he does not have an 8 to 5 (or 9-6) job, he is able to eat, live and rent a space from his poker earnings at Doyle's Room. Needless to say, while I do not consider him as an exceptional player, he is very tenacious, disciplined and proficient in at least a dozen poker variants. OF COURSE, this includes the most famous of all the variants, Holdem. He- every so often- earned serious sums, and it was clearly a case of poker provides room (read: rent money). Then came the UIGEA, and the world collapsed on Hollack. Of course, I and other friends advised him to patronize the few remaining gambling rooms who accept American citizens. No dice for him, I never understood why, but he said he would rather die from hunger than switch to another room. Well, he did not die from hunger, but he was forced to do odd jobs (bartending actually, and a little theater work) to be able to survive, and to pay the rent. After some time, (October), the good news struck Hollack, and again, it was poker provides room. Doyle's Room once again permitted US gamblers to gamble online for real cash, and that's that. Out of sheer joy, Hollack threw a bash for about 30 friends (me included). No food, but all the beer and wine he came up with could fill up an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

I cannot imagine a gambler (with or without the family) taking a holday at Las Vegas without going to THE BOULEVARD, aka the Strip, where the Vegas poker rooms are as plentiful as Hallmark cards at a bookstore shelf. In case you have never been there but is planning to anytime soon, the Strip runs about five (slightly less) miles, running south to the north, and be prepared. You'll be facing multitudes of shopping stores, restaurants, clubs, novelty shops, and naturally, the Vegas poker rooms/casinos, and yes, the hotels with casinos...and the hotels without casinos. Starting at the south part (west part), is the Four Seasons Hotel, then Mandalay Bay, then the Luxor, then Excalibur, then my apartment. Ah-um, the last one, strike that one out. Bellagio is of course, among the movers and shakers in the world of Vegas poker rooms, and this is the site that has dancing fountains. No, the fountains are dancing, as far as I know, individuals are not allowed to dance IN them. Going to the eastern part, there is the MGM, which is another mover and shaker. Believe me, you'll be missing out so much if you fail to spend at least some hours in this site on your Vegas tour. Hey, emulate my friend Jules, when he is at Vegas, he goes there just to eat, can you believe it?

If there are hundreds of online rooms/websites existing at present, for me, only about a dozen could be considered as among the category of the "movers and shakers", and one such poker player website is Party Poker. It is indeed one of the biggest rooms online, but that reason alone is not the reason I think of them as excellent. Have you ever tried downloading a gambling/poker software, and while waiting, you did all these? You made yourself a cup of coffee, you caught up with your email (using another PC), you checked on the laundry, you paid the milkman, you got on the phone to remind your wife/husband that she has to buy this and that, then you go back to your email, then you feed the dog, and after all THESE, you go back to check the download. LO AND BEHOLD, the download said "50% finished" and out of frustration, you turned off the computer. Well, you would not experience that at this poker player website, it would just take a few minutes. All you can do on that window of time would be to call your spouse and tell him/her to buy this and that, nothing else. Another great enticement from this poker player website would be the games offering. They have a big range of games: NL, PL, PL Omaha, Omaha Hl, 7-card games, all you need to do is choose.
